[Paladin] Seal Of Vengeance \ Corruption #1663

Open Devrak opened 6 years ago

Devrak commented 6 years ago

Decription: 1) Seal Of Vengeance \ Corruption damage and bonus calculation on melee swings and abilities is incorrect 2) Melee swings that refresh Seal Of Vengeance \ Corruption should contain a hidden strike trigger procs like Berserking

How it works :

1) It is impossible to speculate because it is completely different of what it should be:

For test BE Ret 80 with melee dmg on hit https://prnt.sc/k5ujjw

Does this: https://prnt.sc/k5ul0k

2) Melee swings that refresh Seal of Vengeance \ Corruption do not trigger any procs

How it should work: 1) Seal of corruption with seals of pure talent should do 37 to 38% of weapon damage ( double weapon damage if crits ) ( It appears wiki was incorrect on that as i looked through videos and could not see it happen ) as holy + modifiers

On the test case ( 3180 ) crit it should look like:

So on that 3320 melee crit Seal of Corruption would have hit for minimum of ~970.56 if weapon damage roll was the worst possible

+ ( 1843 + 2311 ) / 2 = 2077 ( avg weapon damage for this example ) + 2077 * 2 = 4154 ( double weapon damage because melee crit ) + 4154 * 0.33 = 1370.82 ( Base seal damage ) + 1370.82 * 1.15 = 1576.44 ( Seals of the Pure talent modifier ) + 1576.44 * 1.03 = 1623.73 ( Crusade talent modifier ) + 1623.73 * 1.03 = 1672.44 ( Sanctified Retribution modifier [ the 3% damage aura ] ) + 1672.44 * 1.09 = 1822.96 ( 3 stacks of Vengeance ) + 1822.96 * 1.2 = 2187.55 ( Avenging Wrath ) So on that 3320 melee crit Seal of Corruption would hit for ~2187.55 if weapon damage roll was avg~~

2) Melee swings that refresh Seal of Vengeance \ Corruption should contain a hidden strike trigger procs like Berserking

Did a test with 300 melee swings with Seal of Corruption and I got 2 less procs on berserking with it than without it There should have been around ~2x because of hiden strike that refreshes SoC

Source (you should point out proofs of your report, please give us some source): 1) Game Tooltip https://prnt.sc/k5ubjh "Paladins attacks also deals 37 to 38% weapon damage as additional Holy damage" 1) Wiki http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Seal_of_Vengeance "Furthermore, in patch 3.2, if the target already has a 5-stack of Seal of Vengeance debuffs, each subsequent melee swing or special attack made while this seal is in effect will inflict 33% of the attacker's Weapon Damage as Holy damage to the target (twice this amount if the melee swing crits). This extra holy damage cannot miss, be dodged, or be parried. " 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGVpez99FOg A decent quality video where u can see Ret`s stats and hes bashing of training dummy

2) https://web.archive.org/web/20100901200021/http://elitistjerks.com:80/f76/t68951-retribution_updated_3_3_a "1) A "hidden strike" which uses melee combat mechanics occurs. If it lands it refreshes/stacks SoV DoT. Only white swings can trigger a refresh or stack. (This hidden strike mechanic can also proc things like berserking..)"

see there to get an in-depth understanding of the seal. if devrak is correct and the "hidden strike" of a stacked SoV is actually not proccing, that is a major issue for any paladin (ret or tank)

Devrak commented 6 years ago

Id say the SoV\C not scaling is a more concerning issue as u loose potential threat / dps and the loss is just increasing the more gear u gain starting from a few hundred dps with only 2.5k ap

gabbat commented 6 years ago

my link provides all necessary informatin on what it scales with. would be glad if a dev would look into it.

SoV seemed surprisingly bad at proccing stuff on the last server i was on, Dal-WoW. Maybe just a coincidence. On a previous server before that one it worked better. Not the most useful comment I know. Can't test vengeance here yet.

This issue is correlated with https://github.com/SunwellTracker/issues/issues/1072 but the initial problem is that hidden strikes do not work correctly. Any plans on fixing this?
