How it works:

Logging out in combat is possible.

How it should work:

Logging out in combat shouldn't be possible because it can lead to many PvP-wise abuses.

Proof: It would be hard to find a proof from retail TBC, but it for sure isn't working as it should be.

Logging out is the process of exiting the game world to the Character Select Screen. The procedure takes 20 seconds when the toon is not in a major city or an inn. Otherwise, it is instant. It is impossible to logout while in combat. Trying to change armour while Logging out will be unable and the following message will pop up: "You are stunned"

Before they fix this, they need to fix all the issues causing combat bugs on the server. Otherwise it's going to be hell doing dungeons/raids like Shadow Lab, Shattered Halls, Karazhan, etc.

I believe you should be able to logout in combat while being rested.
