ScummVM N64 port will not run at all #374

Describe your system:
 - Operating System (be specific): Windows XP SP3 Pro VLK
 - Machine type (32-bit or 64-bit): 32-bit
 - Mupen64Plus version: 1.99.3
 - Plugins used: Ummm, just the default ones.

Describe the problem:

The ScummVM team recently released an N64 version of their program on their
website (www.scummvm.org), and I wanted to give this a whirl through emulation
(to test games, audio etc out) seeing as I have no means of transferring roms
to my N64 unit. Now so far, it seems none of the currently well known
emulators out there (PJ64, 1964, mupen64plus) can run this thing at all. I
either get a crash, or the emulation just sticks on a black screen. I get the
black screen issue with the current version (1.99.3) of mupen64plus at least.

I haven't tried to use any 'tricks' so far - all I did was simply load my rom
through the command-line. Giving out CRC32/MD5 checksums would be tricky
seeing as it all depends on what files and folders you inject into the rom
during the initial image-making process (as per the instructions at
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Nintendo_64), however, the package
(scummvm-1.1.1-n64.zip for the latest version for instance) does include
numerous binaries that are designed to be merged with diskimages, so if support
for those at least could be added, then everything might work as planned. :-)

The mp64+ console didn't appear to report any issues with the rom(s), apart
from the following:
"Video Warning: Couldn't get address of OpenGL function:
'glCombinerParameterfvNV
'
Video Warning: Couldn't get address of OpenGL function: 'glFinalCombinerInputNV'

Video Warning: Couldn't get address of OpenGL function: 'glCombinerOutputNV'
Video Warning: Couldn't get address of OpenGL function: 'glCombinerInputNV'
Video Warning: Couldn't get address of OpenGL function:
'glCombinerParameteriNV'"

But I don't know whether this is really an issue with the rom, or with the
driver, or with my graphics card.

Thanks for reading.

First thing: You cannot use high level emulation. Please try low level
emulation plugins like z64 first

Okay, do you know where I can download the z64 plugins from? I looked at this
page - http://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus/wiki/ThirdPartyPlugins - but the
links it provides are to Bitbucket pages that don't appear to host a download.
I hope I'm not required to compile the plugins from source because I have
little to no experience in that department.

Sry, but they must be compiled by hand. There are packages available for ubuntu
(not really up to date) available from ppa:sven-eckelmann/ppa-experimenta
