Purpose of code changes on this branch:
To make the code neater & more efficient. Also to make the code easier to 
understand and importable (docstrings will be put in place etc.)

When reviewing my code changes, please focus on:
If the new code is likely to make operations (general term, not referring to 
the ops module) more efficient and easier for a beginner coder to understand.
