Can't receive telegrams using Easykon

Hello,

I am able to send telegrams and control my actuators. However, the response / state telegrams are not received despite the response address being set correctly based on the ETS configuration. For example, my light control is address 0/6/0 and the response is on 0/6/2. When I send True/False to the node with 0/6/0, the light turns on and off. However, nothing comes on 0/6/2. Futhermore, using the KNXViewer, nothing comes through when I control actuators throught the local KNX buttons (not node-red). Telegrams only show on KNXViewer when sent from Node-Red.

I am using Easykon for KNX from Freedompro. Using ETS6, I don't have it set as dedicated device with an address. Just as a configured connection.

I e-mailed Freedompro and they told me the device is supposed to work correctly as generic IP interface...

Any idea why this is happening?

Hi You wrote “response”. Do you mean, status group address 0/6/2? Could you share your flow here, so i can take a look at it?

Hi, Yes, I meant response. I know the address is the correct one and working, as other applications using the same IP interface (e.g. Alexa through Freedompro´s software) receive the status of the different actuators when changed. I honestly think it´s an issue with the IP interface. Either the device firmware or the configuration in Node-Red. The flow is very simple:

Hi If you see the telegrams in the ETS diagnostic, there is no apparent reason, not to see it in node-red as well. Do you have any "UDP storm protections" active on your ethernet switches? If yes, try to disable it.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been out of town. I do see both the control and status telegrams on ETS using the same IP interface, but only when actuated with the KNX buttons. When I actuate it with Node-Red, the lights turn on and off, but on the ETS bus monitoring I only see the status telegram not the control telegram. It´s weird because the light does turn on and off.

I have no idea regarding the UDP storm protections, but I doubt it. I will investigate if you think it´s still relevant given the observations on ETS.

Hi I saw this behavior in the past. If i remember correctly, it was an L3 ethernet switch, mismanaging UPD telegrams, due to some sort of filter in place on the ethernet port where nodered was connected.

I tried connecting NodeRed directly on the same router as the IP interface to bypass the switch. No difference. I am now trying to run Node-Red on a windows machine to see if the problem is related to the machine which was running it. Unfortunately the KNX node is not connecting to the IP interface while running on windows. I am using Tunnel UDP.

I managed to get the windows installation working, had to specify the Ethernet port on the configuration node. The behaviour is still the same. Can control, but don´t get any status... At this point I am afraid that the problem has to do with this particular IP interface... I am thinking on buying another one dedicated only to Node-Red. Any recommendations?

Sorry for so many comments. On a final desperate attempt, I installed the KNX-Easy palette. So my surprise, not only that palette worked well (both status and control) but all of a sudden KNX Ultimate also started to work. What is interesting is that the KNX ultimate node with the status address, it´s sending a message multiple times per second after the light was actuated first time.

Hi Have you tried to se the physical address of KNX-Ultimate, to the same "branch" of your installation? Be careful, that having two KNX nodes on the same machine, could have strange issues.

Don´t ask me why, but working back on the non-windows installation of Node-Red (original one) I also got it to work by just installing the KNX Easy palette and configuring it´s configuration node. Then, I completely removed that palette and related nodes, deployed and KNX ultimate keeps working.

However, it stopped working when I rebooted the machine where node-red is running. Seems like some kind of initialization issue.

Hi Nope. The log appears in the terminal window. Instead of “Auto”, please manually set the ethernet interface, by selecting it in the knx gateway node, “bind to interface…”

I am running Node-Red as docker on this machine https://sonoff.tech/ihost-user-guides/zigbee-support-list/, I don´t know what name to use for the ethernet interface.

Rergarding the log, I know what you meant now. but there are many other messages which are not relevant to this issue, I provably need to deactivate all other flows to focus on the logs related to KNX ultimate. I will try to do it on Monday. Thanks for all the help!

Hi If you have a spare raspberry pi, you can try with that. Dockerized images bring sometime troubles. For example, you should check your nodejs version. It must be at least version 14.x. Also the Nodered version should be at least 2.x
