Keys should be more droid friendly #8

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

It's too hard to control the game. It's not fun.

Fixes:
Scroll-ball should control the player movement. Click could be bound to
something as well, possibly pick-up (with autopickup turned off)

Search/Cntrl key should be 'sticky,' so it doesn't need to be held down.
Cntrl-D can't be done with one hand on the phone.

Thanks
You rule

Makes sense, was thinking of doing something like that. The sticky Ctrl key will
probably be made an option.

Please check out the interface for kMoria for the Palm OS.

Especially the touch-screen movement.

Would work pretty good IMO, especially for the non-keyboard devices (Mytouch3g,
hero,
etc.)

URL for kmoria is:

http://roguelike-palm.sourceforge.net/kMoria/play.php

This version of Moria was emminently playable on the Palm devices.

In the new version 1.1.1, sticky modifier keys can be activated through the new
Preferences screen. Also, the trackball can be used to move and pick up stuff
now,
though it's still a bit primitive (no diagonal movement, no way to change the
sensitivity).

The kMoria interface looks neat, might try to adapt something like that for the
next
version.

The interface for nethack on iphone is pretty adequate too (inethack
http://code.google.com/p/inethack).

They use screen gestures for all standard action, a list for non standard, and
screen
tapping for movement.

Closing this old issue. The newly released version 1.3.2 has much better
touchscreen support, and many other improvements have been made since this
issue was created.
