Thanks for reporting this issue, is this happening just when you open app and immediately start/stop an activity?
I'm pretty sure the app was running as I had it open to start an activity and then stopping didn't work (as described). I don't think I closed it or switched the app in between. But I will have a look at this when it happens again.
Thank you for letting me know.

I experienced it several times now using the Android app that I stopped an activity being in a place where my internet connection was nearly unavailable that either it didn't stop or it said it stopped but later when I opened the app again sometime later, the activity was still running. It looks like the request sent to the server failed and there was no retry.
