As someone who wants to use a controller to navigate the Lemuroid app menus using the D-pad, I find that the contrast for the highlighted menu item is often not high enough, or different to the background colour at all. See the below screenshot examples
Example 1 (systems & tabs)
The bottom tab contrast is good, it's obvious that I am on the systems menu, but have the Home menu selected. If I press (A) on my controller, it will move me to the home menu
However in the same vein, if I go up into the systems menu, the contrast for the highlighted system is very minimal
Example 2 (game selection)
I have no idea which game I have selected, if I press (A) here, apparently it launches GoldenEye, but it looks exactly the same when I (blindly) highlight Star Fox
Example 3 (settings)
I have no idea what menu item I have selected
Describe the solution you'd like
A strong contrast for the highlighted menu item for all selectable UI elements, perhaps following ISO-9241-3 which states a 3:1 ratio. It should be clear when the user has selected a menu item
Describe alternatives you've considered
I have of course considered using the touchscreen for the menus, and I definitely have to fallback to it when changing settings. This will not work for users who do not have alternative input methods (e.g. android TV boxes, or docked setups)
