php-mysql backend : Version Control for #30

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. When saving to db with the php-mysql backend we always overwrite the
existing data.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It would be interesting to save revisions of the xml instead to one can
review the changes applied over time (I'll give it a try).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Feel free to create a versioning backend. Backends, locales and datatype 
definitions
are genrally not directly part of this project: they are much more like
plugins/extensions, mostly submitted by users.
