I have the same problem with my E71 and reported this as issue 228.
The issue was classified as "Invalid" because the problemanalysis said it will
probably be caused by the
internet provider (Vodafone) who could possibly be blocking some kinds of
downloads.
I have reported tis as an issue at Vodafone, but their response was: we dont
block anything.
Indeed I can stream all kinds of media like TV, Internet radio etc. In fact
Mobbler is the only app that does not
start streaming over UMTS (3G) or HDSPA (3.5G) on my E71/Vodafone.
I sometimes do receive albumart and song info, but the player does not start
and indeed stays at 00:00.
I have seen one moment a short moment of paying. Only once.
I hope the reason can be found

I reported the original issue above. Today I installed Nokia Internet Radio
and
streamed fine via my carrier ATT .. so it doesnt seem to be the carrier
blocking.

I'm having problems actually getting music to stream.
I'm using a Nokia e71 on the o2 network in the UK, getting full 3G signal.
I can start up Mobbler, it connects and handshakes to my account, and then
displays
the status as Online in the top right. However, when I try to play any of the
stations, it manages to get the playlist, and the artist+song shows up.
However, the
cover art doesn't show, and the song doesn't play at all (stuck at 0:00), and
then
after a while the square stop button on the screen becomes a play button.
I have a feeling it might have to do with the connection setup, as in the top
left
the icon only shows as "3G" and not "3.5G" as is the case when I am surfing the
net
using the browser or on Skype.
Any ideas?

Same problem here. Handshaking works but streaming a station over 3(.5)G
doesn't seem
to work. I get different errors. First I got the error code -998, and later I
got a
message that looked like a header of some kind of html document.
I installed Mobbler on my N95 8GB and my provider is Vodafone. A friend of mine
also
installed Mobbler on his N95 and he was able to play music over 3G on T-Mobile.
So
maybe Vodafone is blocking my connection or it's because I'm using the N95 8GB
and I
installed the helper.sis
Hope somebody can solve this problem.

I originally reported this issue above.
On my E71 with provider ATT (in San Francisco) the issue has since gone away.
There
are two points I will call out in case it helps any of the rest of you.
1) Slowness: Once playlist loads music playback takes a few long seconds to
start
up. It seems as if it isnt working and then suddenly starts up.
2) When using the service wizard to configure my data settings my provider
returned
two Access Point entries called 1) ATT Internet and 2) ATT Medianet. Upon
review I
noticed the one called ATT Medianet uses a proxy and all other settings were
the
same. I deleted the ATT Medianet Access Point and have had no Mobbler issue
since.
*I am not sure this is why I no longer have the issue but added it here in case
it
might help someone else.

Thanks omez99,
Your solution helped my problem with Vodafone (Netherlands) too.
Indeed it is necessary to remove all accesspoints with proxies.
It is not enough to remove only the proxy for the accesspoint actually being
used for Mobbler.
Vodafone puts a lot of accesspoints with proxies on the phone.
I removed them all and left only one accesspoint for WiFi and one for UMTS.
Probably Vodafone doesnt need proxies.
To remove the proxy you have to select advanced settings at the accesspoints
and clear the fields for
Proxyserveradress and Proxyport

This solution did not seem to help me.
On my n85 I've tried;
Restarting
Uninstalling Mobbler then Installing again.
Removed ATT Medianet access point.
Removed all access points except wireless lan connection to home lan.
Set n85 to default factory settings.
The result is always the same. I play a station, the album art comes up, the
total
time comes up, but the time progress bar never changes and time stays at 0.
I had been able to use Mobbler successfully for about a day before it cacked.

dean.kariniemi, please try the new release, Mobbler 0.3.5, this should fix that
problem.

This is interesting. It started working today with Mobbler 0.3.4 before
installing
0.3.5..
The only major change seemed to be that I installed songbird and allowed that
to
manage my music library. Songbird deleted all music from my n85 then resynced
to my
pc.
It also works after installing 0.3.5...
So possibly the bug was related to the music library or to a bad memory
card(unable
to cache)?..
I've no idea, just glad that it works now.
Thanks hugovk

i have the same problem with ATT and the E71 NAM.
My story is as follows:
I got the E71 and installed mobbler. It worked great. Upgraded firmware to the
latest version and mobbler stopped functioning properly.
It will eventually stream a random song in the playlist after like a 5 to 10
minute wait. So it has to be an application issue not a network problem.
Please fix this problem. Just for the hell of it last night i hard reset my
phone and installed the latest mobbler. It does the same thing still.

i fixed it. In media net settings remove the username and password. Go to
advanced setting and remove the proxy server address and port number.
Reconnnect and streaming works as normal. Im not sure what this means exactly
or why mobbler worked with the proxy set before. Maybe att made changes to not
allow the traffic through that proxy. Im not sure what impact this has if any
on proper data access though.

I had the same issue on Nokia 5800 (AT&T) where Mobbler only worked on Wi-fi.
Then I
started using 'AT&T Internet' packet data instead of 'AT&T Media Net'.
The only difference between them is the proxy settings in the 'Advanced
settings'
page. If I use the one which DOESN'T have proxy settings, Mobbler works fine.
This
issue was very frustrating in the beginning... any idea, why this is an issue
with
cingular's proxy ?

I have the exact same problem as colin.small
With the newest version of mobbler 4.5 i am getting an error, "405 OK"
Music did play once but only after letting it sit for about 5 minutes.
I have a Nokia E71 NAM running firmware version 200.21.118

I just tried mobbler 4.5 on a wifi connection, and it works just fine. Doesn't
work
for any thing on either the "internet" or "media net" access points on AT&T

e71x on ATT, version .04(5) works fine on wifi, will connect and load song,
album art
on Media Net connecton (3G) but does not play, get "405 OK" after 10-20 seconds.

I have the e71x and tried several versions and several settings. If you set
your
phone up ask you what access point to use at start up of programs choose
"Operator -
Proxyless" and it fires right up.

.04(5)

I've added your suggestions to the FAQ, thanks!

== When playing radio on AT&T, it connects, fetches playlist and album art, but
just
sits at 00:00 without playing. How can I fix it? ==
Some people have said in issue 246 that it will work on AT&T when selecting
either
"AT&T Internet" or "Operator - Proxyless" as the access point. These ones don't
have
proxy settings defined in the advanced settings.

Hi
I've been fighting with this problem too...running an nokia e71 with firmware
3.x...
on rogers in canada. I just recently subscribed to last.fm and wanted to stream
audio, but found it wouldn't start playing after connecting, downloading album
art,
etc...after much troubleshooting I found that if I went into my tools, access
points,
Rogers Internet, Advanced Options, and low and behold, somehow a proxy had been
setup
there...deleted the proxy address (looked like a mac address, not IP) and bingo,
mobbler is now working again!!! Hope this helps. Cheers from Canada.

Yes, proxies are very often the cause of streaming problems, as mentioned in
the
FAQ. I've added your tips for Rogers in Canada to the FAQ as well, thank you
for
letting us know.
