afaik the plan is:

merge this PR
tag & release SIRF v3.5.0 (https://github.com/SyneRBI/SIRF/issues/1198)
fix #838 (in SIRF)
tag & release SIRF >=3.5.1

if we tag the SB before or after fixing SIRF, I don't mind too much (as I wrote, the SIRF fix seems so easy to do, that it might avoid having to create a SB 3.5.1, but anyway). But there are 2 issues on https://github.com/SyneRBI/SIRF-SuperBuild/milestone/14 that need to be resolved before tagging.
