I don't really get what FlexHub is (or a DC client). I'm not sure there would be many users to this and I don't know if there are better alternatives.
Direct Connect is a P2P protocol: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_Connect_(file_sharing)
Mostly used in LanPartys to share files between peers in the partys. You can check one of the main desktop clients: http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/
And what about alternatives to FlexHub that could run on a headless NAS, are there any good ones? Or is FlexHub the best one?
FlexHub is just the only one DC client I have see running in a NAS but probably EiskaltDC++ could be the best one in unix/linux systems, you can check this wiki entry with lot of clients and features: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC%2B%2B thanks
+1, I would like to have a DC client for Lan Parties. :D
A good alternative could be SyncApp from Bittorrent (alpha stage) which will provide desktop/mobile/NAS clients.
Topic list : http://forum.bittorrent.com/forum/56-bittorrent-sync/ Supported NAS architectures : http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/8578-supported-nas/
It needs at least glibc version 2.4 to work.
piwi82, I'm not sure that SyncApp is what we are asking for, a Direct Connect client.
