2 years ago I like the idea of making the supported formats a config option. However, I'd rather add this to the admin settings of the block or did you mean that by "block setting"? So an admin could select all the course formats this block should be available in. In this config we would enable topics and weeks and topcoll by default. All other course formats will be offered, but not preselected, great idea!
I could implement a POC for that in the more or less near future, if you want.

@PhMemmel Just opened this as a place to have this discussion. I had an idea about a block setting that would list all course formats installed and allow the site owner to select the course formats that the mass actions block would be available. We can preselect formats that are "known" working formats like topcoll is currently. But this would also allow sites to select formats that we are either unaware of or are only partially supported without us having to manage it in code. Just a thought.
