To verify that we will perform a DNA extraction following a protocol adapted from Benoit by Leila on the pellet resulting from SATAY.

We run the obtained DNA in an agarose gel

We are right if we observe a band corresponding to the DNA length

A smear around the expected length for DNA (up to 20kb). We also observed a smear of RNA.

We learned that we can indeed extract the DNA. 700mg of pellet yields about 13ug of DNA
Decisions and actions (Therefore we will...)
Therefore we will perform this DNA extraction for all 4 pellets from SATAY. To obtain sufficient DNA we will use 2g of pellet for each strain. Once obtained, we will prepare all this DNA for sequencing, starting with a digestion as specified here: https://sites.google.com/site/satayusers/complete-protocol/dna-sequencing
