This was already on the wiki page, so I'll move those notes here:

  • PPSSPP has been proof-of-concept added to Bizhawk before, but it was deemed too complicated and too early in development. However, that was quite a while ago.
  • Has a software rendering option which is fast enough; should probably go with that even if not Waterboxing.
  • There has been some success with running PPSSPP standalone in libTAS, see this forum thread.

Alternative PSP emulators:

  • cspspemu in C#, unfortunately targets .NET Core (can maybe use new AoT and exports features to make unmanaged core?)

I did a search before I opened this and I didn't see that someone has already opened this before me so I thought that this will be alright to open this today.

I really think this would be a great core to add, as I'm having trouble using LibTAS with my screen reader. I want to make a TAS of Final Fantasy for the PSP, but the setup process for LibTAS is giving me trouble, since I am blind and have to use a screen reader. BizHawk is more accessible for me, but the Libretro PPSSPP doesn't seem to work with BizHawk.

Hi there,

I am interested in exploring the possibility and potentially developing support for PSP emulation in BizHawk.

Would anyone happen to know who is the best person to discuss that with?

YoshiRulz commented 4 months ago

At the moment it would probably be @<!---->CasualPokePlayer, but in any case you'll want to join the Discord.
