What was the MD5 hash that was given to you?
It didn't seem to give me one, just a value labeled "Hash". I did try the ROM Hasher tool on Romhacking.net, which gave me this for both the file and ROM MD5: CFCC692427348E58682230A27D9E365D
The SHA-1 was the same as the one provided above.
That makes no sense here, BizHawk normally gives an MD5 and SHA1 (this is the default ROM details the frontend generates, the core doesn't do anything special here)
Where exactly are you finding "Hash" here?
I got the hash from the popup that appears when attempting to load the rom.
Also I'm new at all this.
Ah, that makes sense here.

When loading up the "Sonic_Knuckles_wSonic3.bin" file found in the Steam release of SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics (now delisted, thanks Sega), it's stated that the ROM is not in the database. The other .bin ROM from this release I tested (Space Harrier II) does not seem to have this problem.
Here's the hash for the ROM that was given to me by BizHawk: B711A909CCE238CA4AF3E517A2EDCA306228EFA5
