The answer is likely that you also need to match the size of the file, as it contains the data of 4 memory cards concatenated together IIRC.
I'm using Bizhawk version 2.9.1 to emulate games on ps1. I played resident evil2 in ps1 and saved a game. But when I try to load the game it say: memory card is empty. I reopen the emulator and the game, then hit "flush sRAM", then take that name and rename my saved file , and try to load the game, but with no success. Then I take the saved file and reanme it with extension mcr and try to loaded in another emulator like ePsxe. It worked without a problem. Did I do something wrong, or there is a problem with bizhawk when loading the save file? I can provide the save file if it helps.
