correct readme api usage and add a typescript self contained example #21

hey @KendallWeihe please take a look.

The example on the README wasn't quite right, and I changed it to be js to be a bit more self contained. I then put the corrected ts example in the example folder with a package.json etc.

this illustrates the need for a "Quick Start" guide, which I think is a slightly different matter than the README, but I like it there for now
