Hi first of all thank you for this awesome piece of software. i have been hoping for something like this ever since i first put up my LEDs on the TV quick question regarding webOS: Will this work with any firmware version (i.e. the latest) or just specific versions (i.e. require a downgrade)? still somewhat reluctant to root my OLED C9 :) thanks

Hey, yeah me too, thats why this exists :D At the moment root is requiered, so if you aren't rooted you may have to downgrade to use the exploit. If you have time to wait a bit more, you can also wait for the new exploit the guys from OpenLG discord will release in the future. When I don't know, but its planned as Ive heard. As far as I know (no 100% guarantee, maybe missed some complaints) webOS 5 & 6 are working fine. webOS 4 sometimes is working, sometimes not. But I think in future there will be a wider compatiblity through libdile_vt, which is a layer below which libraries we are actually using.

I think the safest for you will be to ask on the OpenLG Discord, if someone has got it working on a C9. I'm remebering some guys where using it.

Good afternoon, is there any chance, use your program on the web os version 2.2.4? if I manage to get root on my TV after all?

Hey, actually dont remember someone running on WebOS2. I'm also not sure if GUI will run. If there is libvt or libdile_vt, there may be a little chance. You could ask on the OpenLG Discord, if someone got it running

Hi! Thanks for the answer! I'll still try to get root and see what I can launch.

thanks for the reply @TBSniller

turns out i am on 05.10.25 I know this isn't the place to ask but has anybody tried/had any luck rooting that particular fw version?

TBSniller commented 2 years ago

@pho084 that's something I can't tell you. Ive rooted my TV when the exploit came out. You can consider to downgrade to a older firmware. Take a look at the OpenLG Discord
