Steam account shortcuts not working properly #161

Closed Gintas2002 closed 2 years ago

So it worked before idk what I did is there may be a service that depends on it?? cause I messed with them before Anyone somewhy it switches account as it should and opens games when pressing on expand game & shortcut selection, but when trying to switch account it doesn't open steam or epic games or anything I have to open it manually

Try Reinstalling the TcNo Account Switcher. What are the steps you follow to recreate this issue?

thomasthielen commented 2 years ago

I had the same issue - trying to switch accounts in any way (double click, right click -> swap, etc.) usually didn't work, although it sporadically changed its mind and worked again. The clean install you proposed fixed it for me.

Awesome.

I see the comment wasn't from the original poster. Well, closing in hopes it works for them too. Reopen with a comment if it doesn't work *

I just had the same problem again. Thing is - I probably know what the cause is. I have created a Desktop Shortcut for the 'Steam' platform, and by starting it via that shortcut I am unable to change accounts. As soon as I go back to the platform selection and select Steam, it suddenly works.

nope i have everythih set up corectly its probably has to do with a service or webview

I'll look into this

As for Webview or a service? I don't understand what's happening... Can you record the issue?

Simply put launchers are not opening

Possible workaround for now:

Possible reasons:

I need to use this separate exe to run platforms either as admin, or not. Launching directly starts them with the same or higher level (ONLY) as the TcNo Account Switcher. I will add an 'alternate launch method' to the settings as well.

Gintas2002 commented 2 years ago
  • runas.exe

oh wow runas.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" 0 it worked so you're telling me that with administrator steam cant open? that would make sense cause I have LUA disabled

TCNOco commented 2 years ago

Go to the TcNo Account Switcher > Steam > Settings and make sure that Run Steam as Admin is unchecked. This may help. Does runas.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" 1 not work, or something? I have added that fallback I mentioned, and should come with the next update.

oh thank you in worked

With the latest release 2022-02-16, there is now an option in TcNo Account Switcher > Steam > Settings. image Choose the other start method and things should work properly as mentioned before.
