I have done hundreds of hangouts on OSX Mavericks with no problem. I am now on
OSX Yosemite, just released. I am using the latest version of Chrome, and have
reinstalled the GoogleVoice plugin. Thrice.
I use a PNG overlay for my lower third, at 640x360. As of last week, upon
initiation of a hangout, my lower third overlay works fine at first. Then it
automatically shuts off after a few minutes. Then, no matter what I click in
the toolbox (PNG overlay, lower third, on/off), nothing appears over my video
image anymore.
In addition, I get a shield icon in the upper right corner of the hangout
window that says something about an "Unauthorized 3rd party script". I click
"Run Script", and it disconnects me from the hangout and makes me agree to
login again. Sometimes the lower third works again after re-entry, but never
for long.
The last thing I have noted... is that during hangouts on air, when I have many
people connected... it seems that the OSX users are having similar problems,
even missing the three dots in the left icon column of the hangout window to
add apps with. While the PC users in the group appeared to have no problems and
the lower third stayed up during the whole hangout.
I hope it gets fixed soon :)
