The first page of http://www.tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-p5-doc/en/Guidelines.pdf says this:

TEI P5: Guidelines for Electronic Text Encoding and Interange by the TEI Consortium Originally edited by C.M. Sperberg-Mceen and Lou Burnard for the ACH-ALLC-ACL Text Encoding Initiative Now entirely revised and expanded under the supervision of the Tenical Council of the TEI Consortium edited by Lou Burnard and Syd Bauman 2.1.0. Last updated on 17th June 2012. Text Encoding Initiative Consortium Charloesville, Virginia 2012 e TEI Consortium

Two problems here:

a) Those characters that didn't copy and paste correctly are typographical glyphs for purely presentational effect. While they look nice in print, should stop inserting these since they make the PDF less searchable?

b) I can't find anything following "TEI P5: Guidelines for Electronic Text Encoding and Interchange" anywhere in the HTML version of the Guidelines even though these words are in P5/Source/guidelines-en.xml. So these two versions of the Guidelines currently differ in content, not just rendering. Furthermore, since I think we all agree that we want to encourage people to cite the HTML version and not just the PDF version (by page number!), it would be good if we had not only

http://www.tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-p5-doc/en/html/TitlePageVerso.html

online but also a

http://www.tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-p5-doc/en/html/TitlePageRecto.html

that included this stuff. I'm open to this information instead being included somewhere at http://www.tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-p5-doc/en/html/index-toc.html , but I'm not sure where else to put it. In any case, we need to figure out why this information is being thrown out.

I have worked on b), and a TitlePageRecto is now duly in place. As regards a), this stuff is buried deep in the LaTeX, and I don't really know where to start fixing it.

Sebastian, while you are now creating TitlePageRecto.html, this page is not linked from index-toc.html. It should be above the link to TitlePageVerso.html in the HTML.

Comments about http://teijenkins.hcmc.uvic.ca:8080/job/TEIP5-Documentation/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/Guidelines-web/en/html/index-toc.html :

1) I'd suggest renaming "Title" to "Title Page" and putting it as "i." in the front matter list (renumbering "i." to "ii.", "ii." to "iii.", etc.)

And regarding http://teijenkins.hcmc.uvic.ca:8080/job/TEIP5-Documentation/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/Guidelines-web/en/html/TitlePageRecto.html :

2) In the upper left, it shows "Version" but not "Version 2.1.0. Last updated on 17th June 2012." as on other pags on Jenkins.

Sorry, I am leaving Title as Title, and not numbering it. faking up the numbering is a nightmare, and I dont have the phrase Title Page available. Of course, anyone else can dive in and try.

The version number was an interesting problem, thanks :-} Now solved.

There are two notes in the title page recto, but they get run on one line:
