[Mac] Cannot assign custom nicknames to dwarves #393

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open DF, DT, load game, read current game state
2. Right-click a dwarf, select Set Nickname, enter a nickname. Nickname is
shown as a pending change.
3. Commit Pending Changes, DT re-reads game state and no nickname has been
assigned. Additionally, nickname is unchanged in game.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: chosen nickname assigned to dwarf
Observed: chosen nickname not assigned. Note that this behavior occurs
regardless of whether a dwarf already has a nickname.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
DwarfTherapist OSX 0.6.12b03
dwarffortress OSX build 0.34.04
Mac OS X 10.7.3

Please provide the "run.log" file in the "log" directory of DwarfTherapist
when this error occurred.
Attached. Note that dwarf "Dobar Dumatmerseth" was to have his nickname changed
to "Urist McChange".

If this is a truly "crazy" issue, please also attach a copy of your save-game.
Not needed. Should be reproducible with any given savegame.

Note that this may be a duplicate of a similar issue in Linux, issue 175,
http://code.google.com/p/dwarftherapist/issues/detail?id=175 . I just don't
know how the DT Mac port is being built. Since it's started showing up on the
downloads page here, I figured this was the correct place to begin reporting
Mac bugs.

Apparently yes, as suspected, this is directly related to the Linux bug:
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=66525.msg3065144#msg3065144

And is a more complicated bug than it first would appear. :(

This is the correct place to report bugs. There is a bug open for this
particular issue however, so I'll roll it into that one.

I didn't want to assume that they were related, despite how similar they appear
to be, as I haven't looked at the codebase. Thanks!
