Okay I think I've dealt with the minor suggestions/comments. I've wrote the usual response letter here and the new version of the manuscript here.
I've corrected:
The silly typos (no need to check 'em)
The title (Peter's suggestion)
Emphasise that the anatomical characters we're interested here are hard tissue characters such as skeletal ones
Add some discussion on the matrices not included. Basically that yeah, referee 1 is right, it might bias our results not to include older matrices but then again, they are probably too different in terms of coding (see Peter's comment) and that anyway the living species in there are likely to be reused in recent matrices (at least in primates, see ESM1).
And removed the discussion about the Genus level thing to gain space for the change above and retract sloppy state
I'm now gonna do all the version transformations and online submission filling (I'm not submitting though, of course).
