Add social responsibility declarations #28

Open Julian-tib opened 2 years ago

Organizers sometimes publish texts in which they declare their intention to meet the social responsibility they think they have.

These texts can address different issues of inequality. They are titled for example "gender equity statement", "diversity statement" or "code of conduct".

Publishing these kind of texts at least shows that the organizers have recognized an issue and presumably intend to meet their responsibility with regards to it.

Ideally we would want to add links to those texts to avoid the copyright issue. This again raises the problem that those links and consequently those texts are not permanent.

An idea would be to save the link and trigger an automatic archiving of the linked resouce via Internet Archive or a similar institution. Then the link and a link to the archive copy could be stored. A more elaborate process could later on be developed to either check the availability of the original resource or link directly to the archived version - which only makes sense after the conference is over.

Archiving these texts runs into the same legal problems as the archiving of whole conference websites does: We would need the documented consent of the authors. Or the texts are originally published with a appropriate license (which they basically never are).

I'm not advocating to archive the websites, I'm suggesting to link to archived copies elsewhere. But this has to be discussed by legal experts.
