What should/will the learning objective(s) be?

Being able to complete basic git operations in both web platforms (commit, branch, merge)
Being able to use the issue trackers for basic project management tasks (scheduling, assigning)

What do participants need to know / install / bring?

Basic knowledge of Git (maybe watch av.TIB.eu/media/32224 & /37825, 15-30min each)
accounts on either GitHub.com or GitLab.com (best on both).

How about having "First steps into GitHub" before that (after the R and Python introductions)? Does it make sense for you?

Generally yes, but since we recorded av.TIB.eu/media/32224 & /37825 already, people can watch those as preparation.
