_Activity 3a._ What is the best way to ask a question? Face to face, via email, or Slack How can you explicitly schedule time with your instructor to review a problem? Calendly Are there any other times that we're available? We can expect an instructor to be available during lab hours; instructors will occasionally make themselves available outside of office hours. What are the three possible grades applied to every assignment? What do they mean? Satisfactory [Green] Work is submitted correctly, is complete, and demonstrates understanding of the concepts at hand Not Yet [Orange] Work is submitted correctly, contains all requested parts, but demonstrates a lack of understanding of the crucial learning concept used to attain the result; Code may not be completely functional Incomplete [Red] Work is not submitted correctly according to instructions, does not contain all requested parts, and demonstrates insufficient effort toward completion and application of concepts at hand What is the link to your GitHub profile? Your profile image? https://github.com/silentDjay https://avatars3.githubusercontent.com/u/16448021?v=3&s=40 In what week do we plan to review material? Week 6 At what time does class begin? Is attendance mandatory? 9 AM After what amount of time are you counted late? Any amount of time. When are you counted absent? Does that matter? It's up to the instructor's discretion if you don't give notice of an absence. Missing classes makes it VERY hard t keep up with the material. What is the most common kind of mistake in programming? Typographical mistakes What are some strategies you can use to work through a difficult problem? Take breaks and return with fresh eyes and a new perspective, talk it out with yourself, other people, stuffed animals, etc. What exactly is the ⌥ key, anyway? option What do you think will be the biggest barrier to your success in this class? My tendency to 1) avoid asking for help early or often AND 2) avoid taking feedback/criticism to heart How can you identify with the Growth and Fixed Mindsets? In what areas do you feel fixed? Where do you see the most potential for growth? I know I certainly have the tendency to compare my 'success' to others', especially those with whom I've grown older. I also know that this is a poisonous way of thinking and aligns closely with a Fixed Mindset, e.g. thinking things like "I'm sure X would have done this better, cooler, faster, etc." I can improve by moving beyond this reductive way of assessing my own personal development and simply focus on consistently putting forth genuine effort against the challenges that I'll face in the course. Do you consider yourself a top-down or bottom-up thinker and why? Bottom-Up, definitely. When I start a project, it's not until I'm well beyond the would-be planning stages that a master plan starts to form in my head. I make the important calls on the way. What do you think about your "learning style" and the debate about their validity? Which would you categorize yourself as and why? I think the only really important aspect of anybody's learning style is that they require a variety of ways of experiencing a topic before they can truly understand it. I would categorize myself as a "do it once, proceed to forget how to do it, and then re-learn how to do it better" kind of learner.
