Thank you for sharing the latest pathways analysis results this morning, and I look forward to following up on wetlands and riparian areas. A couple wetland and riparian topics and questions that might help frame our conversation:
What is the current status of how you’re planning to incorporate wetlands and riparian areas in the model (e.g., LANDFIRE vs. NWI)?
Data gaps – It would be helpful to have a table outlining what you are specifically missing in terms of wetlands and riparian areas, and what kind of spatial coverage, units, and accuracy you need for wetland- and riparian-related model parameters. For example, productivity can be measured in a number of different ways. I’d be happy to help fill some of those data gaps in the future!
Aridification – Steve, I’d love to chat about this with respect to wetland and riparian types (and areas) that are more stable vs. transitioning to drier systems that are likely to store less carbon.
Specific targets – based on what I heard this morning, I’m assuming that we’re unlikely to have a specific area target for wetland/riparian restoration needed in the next 1-2 weeks. It would be helpful to know what I might realistically have to work with for the NWL Strategic Plan, even if that’s a big flag for “fill data gaps”.
