Query tool for GlintEvader system for predicting trails from LEO Satellites #857

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. The high number of artificial satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) is causing a dramatic increase in the number detected by accident in astronomical data products. Typically they cause bright streaks in imaging data, which may render the observation unuseable. One way to mitigate this issue is to change when observations are requested by the user to avoid bright streaks.

Describe the solution you'd like In order to do this, astronomers need a tool to predict whether any known satellites will intersect with a planned observation. The GlintEvader system by Privateer is designed to provide a queryable service to provide these predictions.

The service has recently implemented an API, which is documented here.

The TOM would be enhanced by adding a module capable of querying this service and displaying the returned data within the TOM's UI, so that the user can adapt their observing plans accordingly.
