Project Objectives - To determine hemp (Cannabis sativa) response to applied nitrogen.

• Project Description - Grain & Fiber N study

• Project Protocol - 3 varieties x 6 rates x 4 reps. (18 trt).

• Field Design - RCB with 4 reps. Blocked by replication.

Field size: L 242' x W 160’. (0.89 ac).

Plot size: L 25' x W 12'. (300 sqft).

• Field Diagrams - Maps can be found on TEAMS.

• Treatments - eighteen (18) experimental units.

• Projected Start Date- Mid-April, Early-May.

• Projected End Date- September/October.

• Project Manager(s)- Daniel, Ajit.

• Projected Planting Date- 5/6 or 5/11.

• Crop(s)- Hemp: Grain and Fiber. cv. Grain/fiber (Carmagnola, Abound, & SS-Beta).

• Irrigation - Solid set: over-head sprinklers.

• Applications - Six (6) Nitrogen treatments, split between **four (4) applications.

• Planting methods - 3' Mounds, planted in center 1.25'. Seeded by hand.

• Data Collection & Sampling - Emergence, Stand count, Height, Flowering, Sex ratio, Seed hardening. TBD.

• Project Maintenance - Weeding/cultivation between rows.

• Equipment needed - Moldboard plow, Harrow disk, Row marker, others - TBD.

• Field crew assistance - Yes. For irrigation and land preparation.

• Plot size - 12 ft wide (4 rows) x 25 ft long (300 ft2) x 18 trts x 4 reps = 216 ft wide x 130 ft long.

• Seeding? (Direct, Broadcast, Incorporated, Drill, Earthway, etc.) - Direct seeding.

• Transplants? - No.

• Support Structure (Rebar, String, etc.) - NA.

• Plastic Mulch? - NA.
