I actually do have a small list of recommended mods to play with, and FastTravel is one of them. I forgot to put that on the Thunderstore page at first, but I just put it there earlier today.
That's still a good point though. I didn't want it to be possible to skip Chapter 5 and go straight to the ending like you can normally do with glitches, but it would probably be a good idea to have the path back to the beginning area always be active so that you don't get stuck there.
Ah thanks for updating that. It's probably just as well then to have fast travel then. ^ ^ Works for me!
I'm not sure if this is a problem that this mod is meant to solve, but I wonder if this could be something to include in recommended setup for new players to the mod.
I recently played a 2-player multiworld where my BRC partner gained access to Mataan, and didn't have enough REP through the run to clear any of the smoke in the stage. They managed to do a billboard boost past several smoke gates, until eventually they skipped past the lion statue smoke gate. This prevented them from returning to the main part of Mataan as the smoke hadn't cleared, and any deaths or boosts back to the main area seemed to respawn them by the lion statue. There were no ways to gain enough speed to jump past the smoke gate from the inside. Restarting the game put them back in the same location. I also couldn't give them enough REP to open the gate as they were several hundred off, and I only had 3 checks remaining in my game.
In the interest of letting players do sequence breaks and not punishing players for going past barriers, it'd be nice to recommend something like installing the FastTravel mod for archipelago players, short of making changes to allow players to reset their position to somewhere central if they get stuck while making checks in areas they usually can't reach.
