For puḷḷi use "·" (U+00B7 Middle Dot) For middot use bigger, bullet-like. "•" (U+183). What do you think?
Oh it looks like, in my infinite wisdom, I've already resolved this by ignoring middots after a space. So, in
pat·bhām
the dot will render as a puḷḷi, but in
yāyiruṅ ·
it won't change.
We can still use different Unicode characters to disambiguate if you want, though. There might be cases where you want to put a middot next to a letter, with no intervening space (I guess?)
Do we want to use different characters to transcribe a middot vs a puḷḷi? See Indien 318 for examples of middots in manuscripts.
