In Indien 512, U3, for piṟa<subst>ṭṭ<del>a</del><add place="below">ā</add></subst>ci

oXygen tells me this encoding is not permitted: text not allowed here; expected element "add", "anchor", "cb", "del", "fw", "gb", "lb", "milestone" or "pb"

piṟaṭṭ<subst><del>a</del><add place="below">ā</add></subst>ci

give the same nice display in transliteration :

But not in Tamil transcription :

The isue being thta medial "a" and "i" appears as initial "a" and "i".

Yes, this is not currently allowed in TEI, but I think it's the best way to express vowel signs being added/removed. TEI wasn't really designed for Indic scripts.

Ok, fine! Will just note in the encoding that we deviate here from TEI
