I don't have any problems with .ase models showing up in the editor. Perhaps you can share a sample map with the model in question and list your GPU specs.
Check your settings for patchmeshes. Preferences > Editing > Patch Subdivisions. Default should be 4, smaller values = more subdivisions. Note that patch detail in-game is interpolated by player distance, and changes Level of Detail (LoD) dynamically. If you're compiling with -patchmeta and -subdivisions, the default LoD can change. Regardless, due to dynamic LoD you'll always see discrepancies between what you see in the editor and what you see in-game.
I'm not sure what you mean by missing BSPC.exe and Q3Map2.exe. They seem to be installed on my end. Perhaps you mean there is something wrong with it working with RTCW? You'll have to elaborate.
For future reference, please report your individual issues separately so that they can be individually closed when resolved.
Hi Obsidian,
Thank you for your answer. Yes, I work with RTCW. The bspc.exe that is delivered with the 1.6.6 version of GtkRadiant does not know the parameters for the _b0 and _b1 stages. The old bspc.exe from versions 1.2.11 and 1.4.0 knows them. Yes, I am still having the problem with brushes and ase models. I do not know the reason. My 3D accelerator is a NVidia GeForce 820M. The brushes are displayed wrong in the GtkRadiant 1.6.6. This is not the case with the GtkRadiant 1.6.4. Everything is fine with version 1.6.4. I tried to change the parameter Preferences/Editing/Patch Subdivisions but this did not help me either. I cannot upload the map. It contains many custom models (md3 and ase). The defective brushes are not patches. They are regular brushes. I must mention one more bug. The sound also is not compiled in the map with q3map2.exe from the Gtkradiant 1.6.6 (I mean the noise produced from target_speaker).
Kind regards,

Hi TTimo,
I tested the new GtkRadiant 1.6.6 and discovered some bugs in it. I use the gtkradiant 1.6.4. The new feature of showing the shaders and textures is quite handy. The issues that I found are two so far. The editor of GtkRadiant 1.6.6 does not show some ase models in its 3D window although they are visible inside the 2D window. It also shows some brushes not smooth like 1.6.4. When I compile with q3map2.exe x64 the appearance of the brushes inside the rtcw engine is also not smooth as the editor shows. Besides, the versions 1.6.4 as 1.6.6 suffer from the missing bspc.exe that supports the rtcw community. Of course, there are several workarounds but it would be more convenient if all communities find their tools in one package. I use the bspc.exe from version 1.4.0. It is important to mention that 1.6.4, 1.6.6 as well as 1.4.0 suffer from the crashing camera plugin. 1.2.11 is a big master. It is maybe the unique version that can handle all the above mentioned issues and more. I appreciate the GtkRadiant version 1.2.11 a lot. It is a genius. This later is by far the best release ever, although it does not have a q3map2.exe. I wonder whether the developers would address the above mentioned issues.
Kind regards,
