Steps to get access to teacher benefits

• Fill out the registration page: https://education.github.com/discount_requests/application
  • Motivation: "Teaching and software development support"
  • As I didn't have any recent correspondence from the TU Delft to use as proof of academic employment, I quickly requested such a document from HR: https://intranet.tudelft.nl/-/employer-s-declaration. In MyHR, I used the option "Indienst".
• After approval from GitHub (took less than a minute), I accepted the invitation to join GitHub Global Campus.
• You can then access Copilot through your standard GitHub Account Settings. After I requested the free trial in the settings, GitHub mentions I can use Copilot for free.
• Install the plugin in VSCode.

The process is now more streamlined and easier from GitHub's side. I agree that this needs to be added to the guides.
