6 years ago Happy to tweak whatever is needed, probably a good idea to unleash the new website as well. I have been quietly tweaking a few bits and pieces on the new site but there's bound to be stuff I've missed.

I wonder if the user guide could add sections on: Auto Add shows; auto folder creation; auto folder deletion; Exporters; Finders; File Touch; Multi-episode Merging; How to write a Regex for TV Rename; DVD vs Aired Order; auto-update; auto/periodic/startup/manual scanning - Happy to write these up if that helps?

6 years ago @MarkSummerville Don't forget you have collaborator access to the test repo - so you can tweak stuff as well! (I always start a session with a pull anyway...)

6 years ago Having a problem with Options>Preferences>Automatic Export, I can't seem to get the Renaming XML to work.
Using 2.4.2 RC 1 and setting Renaming to "C:\Users\Andy\Desktop\rename.xml".
If I rename a couple of files by removing the episode title from the file name and run a scan, TV Rename correctly finds the files and with "Do Checked" will fix them, however the XML file isn't produced.
Nothing obvious in the logs...
Strange, tried it again after restarting and it worked - something to do with saving maybe?

Interestingly, I have the file rename warning back as well.

It works once you've saved the settings and restarted TV Rename

6 years ago Its looking like these preferences are only loaded from the xml at startup, and not dynamically updating when the program is running.
I'll push on tweaking the web pages but please can you take a look at whats going on...

6 years ago Actually the output functions were only called on certain scan types (full and quick), but not recent nor "Single Show". Should be fixed now.
Will take a look at 'prevent moves' now too.

Act as a filter for Tools>Bulk Add Shows or something else?

6 years ago The Bulk/Auto Add acts as the settings for the bulk and auto add functions. Bulk Add is the 'Bulk Add Shows' function. Auto Add is a new feature that adds show names it finds in the 'search folders'. You will need to turn the function on with the bottom checkbox of the 'additional actions' section on the 'Scan Options' tab of Preferences

Can't get the command line to work using 2.4.2 RC 1, no matter what I try just loads the splash screen followed by the program.

Just out of interest what does "/?" do? My simple brain says it should provide me with a list of command line options with short descriptions, but when I try it nothing seems to happen...

/scan will Tell TV Rename to run a scan
/quickscan will scan shows most likely to need an update: http://www.tvrename.com/userguide#scan
/recentscan will scan recent shows: http://www.tvrename.com/userguide#scan
/doall Tell TV Rename execute all the actions it can.
/quit Tell a running TV Rename session to exit.
/hide will hide the UI
/unattended same as /hide
/recover will Recover will load a dialog box that enables the user to recover a prior TVDB.xml or TVRenameSettings.xml file
/userfilepath:BLAH Sets a custom folder path for the settings files.
/createmissing will Create folders if they are missing.
/ignoremissing will Ignore missing folders.
/norenamecheck will Allows a request to an existing TV Rename session to scan without renaming.

6 years ago Few new bits under the beta menu, but now sure whether it is documenting those (duplicate finder and timezone tracker)
I wasn't planning to document the Beta stuff until it went live.
To get to the Beta stuff the option needs enabling so folks need to be fairly savvy to do it, and if not-so-savvy folks read about options on the website that they can't immediately see in the program there will be confusion, besides there's always the forum.

Please feel free to to write up anything, and give me an idea of where it is to go... I'm happy to flesh stuff out, so don't be surprised if content gets tewaked!
To be honest I currently don't have as much free time as I did, so even outlines with necessary tech detail would help.

I have just brain-dumped it all in there and not thought too much about how best to integrate it into the existing content. I have aimed it at a 'Features' level - trying to advertise the tool and its many features, and provide appropriate links into the full manual or new featrues in github/idea wall.

6 years ago /? looks like it won't work. so have given up for now. It puts the info into the log file which is the best I can do for now.
Once I have the current issues fixed, I can add 'Features' to a new page. Kinda sits between the quick start overview and the detail in the manual. Happy to help out
