Describe the bug doesn't work

Thank you for reporting the bug. It's very likely that the reason for the issue is that your CPU lacks AVX/AVX2 support, which has caused the llama-server subprocess to crash.

We should generate proper warning to reduce user confusion.

it CAN work without AVX/AVX2 support, check issue created by me :D https://github.com/janhq/cortex/issues/393

Yes, that's possible, but it will generate quite a number of distribution packages which might not be suitable for Tabby's current stage.

As a workaround, consider building or obtaining an appropriate llama-server binary matching your CPU instruction set, and use it in conjunction with Tabby.

how can I do that in the docker?

For docker - you could create your own Dockerfile and copy suitable llama-server binary into it (override the one bundling with default Dockerfile)?

I got exact the same error, but with a cpu with avx support and a Tesla T4 as gpu card: docker-compose.yml:

It's not OK for me...

I compiled and started llama-cpp server myself, it listens 0.0.0.0:8081 and answers. I started the tabby container and added:

The tabbyml container, v0.13.1, still gives the error. TabbyML container should not try to start llama-cpp itself.

Hi - just like how you configure completion / chat model, you'll also need to configure [model.embedding.http] to use a remote backend for embeddding.

On my side, I can confirm that the reported error on this issue is that the llamacpp service is compiled without some CPU supports. Like I mentionned in https://github.com/TabbyML/tabby/issues/2266 and following your recommendation, the solution is to deploy our own LlammaCPP server and to connect TabbyML to this one.

I also needed to start another LlamaCPP to serve embeddings.

It works well with 0.14.0.rc-0

The only "hard part" is to find what to specify in the Tabby server configuration file, for example the "model name". But after a few tests, that's OK.
