OpenFace – a state-of-the art tool intended for facial landmark detection, head pose estimation, facial action unit recognition, and eye-gaze estimation.
I was asked by a colleague who is considering using OpenFace to have a look at its license to see if we can work with it. Despite the name, OpenFace turns out to not be Open Source software.
It's of course CMU's good right to license their software in whichever way they want, but it seems that there are many people who don't bother checking the license. 1.7k of them have pressed the Fork button, thus redistributing the code and violating the license. Perhaps it would be good to have a warning in the README that makes it clear that this is not Open Source?
