They are not both active actually, it's only sort of painting issue. Being on
KDE trunk now, I tried to
reproduce it and looks like it has already been fixed for Oxygen along with
other QTabBar fixes. Though I
was able to reproduce it on other styles such as Cleanlooks so I believe that
it's a general KDE4 style
issue.
There are some other KDE4 issues that Arora users may face and we collect them
in the KDE4Integration
wiki page. Will go through this issue more carefully and see if it's indeed
fixed for Oxygen or is it still a
general problem for all kde styles. Then it can be passed on to the KDE bug
tracker.

I get it with Arora that comes with the windows installer, that is, Qt 4.5.0,
with no relation to the local KDE
installation (Qt 4.4.3).

This bug is caused because QtTabbar doesn't like background (unselected) tabs
that resize. I can reproduce this
bug reliably on both my Linux machines (no KDE4 installed) using several Qt
themes (including Clearlooks and
Gtk+)
1) Open this page: http://vljubovic.members.epn.ba/resize-title.html
2) Press Ctrl+T to create another empty tab and switch to it (no need to open a
webpage)
3) Keep switching back and forth between these two tabs, especially while the
first tab is resizing.
Effects are: one of the tabs gets "stuck" in active mode (actually it isn't
active), the really active tab lacks close
icon, title of inactive tab doesn't really change it just gets stretched.

I have found relevant Qt bug report:
http://www.qtsoftware.com/developer/task-tracker/index_html?method=entry&id=2469
13
It is marked as fixed. Indeed I can't reproduce the bug with latest Qt trunk.
Suggest marking bug as fixed.
