while reading feed, touch based navigation behavior to prior or next story is not working #102

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open a rss folder with multiple items
2. open a feed that has items before and after
3. use touch based (swipe on screen) behavior to read prior or next story
4. nothing happens

What is the expected output?
The build immediately prior to 1.4.3 would page to the prior or next
story, depending on which way that I swiped my finger/thumb.

What do you see instead?
Nothing happens at all.

What version of the product are you using?
1.4.3

On what operating system?
Windows Mobile 6.1

Please provide any additional information below.
There are two preference (Navigation style) of WM standard and Touch
friendly and the behavior I experience is the same for either setting.

It may be a better approach to use up/down movement for scrolling (like it is
now)
and add left/right "gestures" to move forward/backward.

I did not plan the touch friendly scrolling to change the articles since it
does not
change anything when you are scrolling on summary view/feed view.

So, I'm changing this to an enhancement.

I appreciate your reply and understand what you are saying.

My only follow-up is to restate that the behavior has changed from prior
builds. In
prior builds, while reading an article, one could swipe the finger on the touch-
screen to navigate between articles. This no longer works so the perception is
that
something has been broken or removed.

I don't object to re-categorizing this as an enhancement, as I am comfortable
using
the existing behavior (d-pad or scroll) to navigate.

I can not move to the next/previous article by swiping the finger on touch
screen (in
any pRSSreader version). So it might be some speciality of your device. What
device
do you have?

Now that is very interesting ... I have an HTC Vogue, branded as a Sprint Touch.

I typically do not or rather, did not navigate between feeds in this manner,
but I
can use swiping (in prior build). The only reason that I thought to try it is
1.4.3
is that there are the two different Navigation Syle preferences available. I
wanted
to explore the differences between the two and at that point I noticed that I
could
no longer use finger/thumb swipe to navigate between feeds.

i have the Vogue as well, and would definitely like this enhancement. i believe
that's how it works in RSS Hub, which is where i remember it from.

this is what keeps me from changing from RSS Hub which comes with my HTC
Diamond to
prssr which I used to use on my old HTC Touch - I'd love to switch back, but
I've
gotten too used to the swiping for next/previous article

I would like also the "HTC" touch behavior
*Left/right - Next/previus item
Up/down - scroling item
(Think about devices which don't have buttons HTC Touch HD for example... :) )

I figured something out :)

HTC Touch HD

When you are in "item view" turn ON Fullscreen and Volume Up/Volume Down move
to
next/previus item... :) (in 1.4.4 it work but the lack of touch based swipe is
for me
still mystery... :P)
