What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. With sync to Google Reader set up, attempt to sync a feed over an EDGE
mobile data connection.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- often the update fails with 'Error getting file'
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.4.4 on Windows Mobile 6.1 (HTC Touch Diamond)
Please provide any additional information below.
- I have around 12 feeds set up in GReader and pRSSReader. If I 'update
all' over EDGE or GPRS I usually see 'Error getting file' from a number of
feeds, perhaps four or five of them, and if I attempt to update a single
feed then around 50% of the time it fails with the error. On HSDPA or WiFi
I haven't seen this happen.
- Retrying from the error screen sometimes works and sometimes gives the
error again.
- This is with cache images off, and caching of 50 items. I've noticed
that reducing the number of items cached seems to reduce the chance of the
error occurring, and when I tried reducing it to a very small number (5)
the error didn't happen at all.
- I'm not using a proxy (but I do have HTTP optimizer set to Google).
- With syncing to Google Reader not enabled, I didn't see any errors
(though I haven't tested this extensively).
- I attach a log file (at log level 5) for a session in which all I did
was start pRSSReader, attempt to update Engadget, see the error, and exit
pRSSReader.
Thanks.
