Auto update not working when device is in standby #160

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Adding/Importing a feed to be updated
2. Set cache settings to download images and update at a certain time (for
a test run)
3. Set "update on background" to on as well as "automatically connect"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
EXPECTED: When my device is in standby (screen off & locked via S2U2) i
expect the application to auto launch in the background (like Rss-Hub) and
update the feeds by establishing a HSDPA/3G/EGDE (if not already active)
and downloading the new rss data... all while the device remains in standby
(screen is off). Just like RSS Hub.

INSTEAD: Application launches as expected, but does not auto-establish a
connection. I have to 'check' to see if it is updating by turning the
device on from standby -- Only then does it connect to the HSDPA/3G/EDGE
network to download. If I put the device back into standby, the downloading
stops.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 1.4.4 -- Windows Mobile 6.1

Please provide any additional information below.
Slide-to-Unlock (s2u2) is installed and active. Does not disrupt when
RSS-Hub connects during standby, so i know it is configured correctly.
Custom notify sound is enabled.

Also, as a side note, it would be nice (when auto update works) for not
only a sound to display on screen -- but a RSS Icon on the top tray to be
displayed, so that if the device is in silent mode or whatever, when i next
look at the device, i know that items are waiting for me even though I
didn't hear it activate. Clicking on the Rss icon in the tray would ideally
take me directly to the main channel menu of the application.
