Suggestion: The Goodest Boy #265

Turning tamed dogs into guard dogs. They're such good doggos and they deserve a job.

2019-06-01_21 17 50 2019-06-01_18 14 25

Suggestion, a new job token, food item, and structure token or style of bed.

Job token. Guard Dog. Once you tame a vanilla dog and bring it back to your village you can buy a Guard Dog token. The Job Symbol would be a bone. Once assigned to their job they would stop following the player and would vary between following Guards and patrolling like Guards do.

Looks wise, it would just look like an upgraded vanilla dog and maybe have a brown vest like many working dogs have.

Food item. Dog food. As a member of the village the doggo will have stats and need food. Dogs are carnivores so they'll need meat. They can eat raw meat, cooked meat, and Dog Food. How much hunger, happiness, and health they get would depend on the food they are eating just like Villagers. Dog Food would be a unique food item made by the Chef that uses 2+ mixed meats.

Structure Token or Bed Type. This hard working dog needs a place to sleep as well. They could sleep at a Kennel. A not smaller than 1x2x1 structure that acts like a house structure and a bed. 1maxresdefault

and/or They can have a dog bed. The dog bed functions just like a normal bed, but only for dogs. 1Bed1

Job. Very similar to Guards. They fight mobs and level up like guards. The major difference being they won't get weapons and armor.

Breeding. Once you have 2+ guard dogs there is a percent chance of them producing a smaller looking Doggy Heart. Clicking it on a Dog bed or kennel produces a puppy.

Job interactions. Those puppies need to learn how to be the best guard dogs so during the day your highest level guard will come over to train them a little each day. This jump starts the dogs abilities just like how a teacher jump starts kids.

Cute quirks. Occasionally, guard dogs will "sleep" on a claimed village bed. They still have their own dog bed, but what dog doesn't love to sleep with their human?

Chewing and "burying" a bone. Sometimes they will be holding a bone in their mouth as they walk or sit and sometimes they will dig at the ground to bury their bone. This is purely decorative. Like how the guards salute. Alternatively, giving a dog a bone could cause this and give them a boost to happiness.

That looks cool

Wow, a lot of effort went into the presentation of this.. Kudos!!

Great idea!

+1 and the only thing that brought me here was the title. But to be honest, this is an amazing idea. Tango's goal for this mod is to overhaul the regular villager mod, and Mojang's goal with villages were to have them act like little cities, and every city/town a police, and sometimes those police have police dogs, and the guards act as the police.

JohnyDL commented 5 years ago

would solve the skele frustration too xD... next Cats XD

@JohnyDL @Shamshalabim @PunchAndDunk
Thank you thank you very much!

@fdsfd-skripts Which means the title worked as intended. :P

@JohnyDL Yes please. Cats next. I wish I could think of something good for them. Like maybe just a free roamer who boosts happiness? I think that would be great.

JohnyDL commented 5 years ago

I'll have a think but happiness and health boosting? they'll bring joy to whoever sees them like the player brings joy to the guards and they will sleep with villagers that need healing and give them a +stat in healing when they wake?

Love it! Beautifully presented! An alternative similar idea could be to be limited to one dog per guard, and that guard maintains its hunger by feeding it. They could also eat the rotten flesh dropped by zombies to keep it fed.

Konyv commented 5 years ago

@JohnyDL That does sound pretty good.

@Firenzic thanks. :) That could work and would make more sense than the dog go to storage themselves.

Firenzic commented 5 years ago

And stop people abusing huge amounts of guard dogs.. They could be more of a guard upgrade
