Suggestion: Enchanted Books Trade-able - 1 Emerald Max #771

Not a bug but just a suggestion/request.

The books that the enchanter makes are usually not worth much and instead of just trashing them, I was wondering if there was a chance to add a trade for the Merchant to have a chance to buy ANY enchanted book and will pay no more than 1 Emerald for one OR require two books for one emerald. Just a small way to make a couple extra TekTopians!

totally +1 this idea. I think 2 books for 1 emerald would be a decently balanced trade. Issue i assume would arise, is that the price cant go up due to them not being stackable.

Small thing that could be added is ability to trade any enchanted book for an "enchantment token" from the tradesman instead! That way you could gradually increase the price on them depending on how many you are selling as well

Don't vanilla villagers trade written books that doesn't actually check the exact NBT? I'm wondering if the merchant could do the same? but I'm not necessarily sure selling the books is the answer.

I kind of like the idea of the enchanter combining books rather than enchanting at higher levels the enchanter works faster of course as they skill up but to get unbreaking-3 you need 4 unbreaking-1 books not luck, to get smite-5 you need 32 smite-1 books again not luck, the enchanter would ignore (and reset to the same as vanilla villagers/finding the same book in a loot chest) the levels it would take the player to combine books, at first combining like with like until the top levels are reached and then useful combinations for the player, my pick would be these 20 combinations:

Base for Everything else/Sheers/Elytra: Mending, Unbreaking-3 Shovel/Pick/Axe 1: Silk, Efficiency-5 Shovel/Pick/Axe 2: Fortune-3, Efficiency-5 Sword/Axe 1: Looting-3, Sharpness-5 Sword/Axe 2: Looting-3, Smite-5 Sword/Axe 3: Looting-3, Bane of Arthropods-5 Sword 4: Fire Aspect-2 Sword 5: Knockback-2 Sword 6: Sweeping edge-3 Rod: Luck of the Sea-3. Lure-3 Bow 1: Infinity, Unbreaking-3 Bow 2: Flame, Power-5, Punch-2 Armour 1: Protection-4 Armour 2: Fire Protection-4 Armour 3: Blast Protection-4 Armour 4: Projectile Protection-4 Armour 5: Thorns-3 Helm: Aqua Affinity, Respiration-3 Boots 1: Depth Strider-3, Feather Falling-4 Boots 2: Frost Walker-2, Feather Falling-4

This leaves only the Curse books that'd end up uncombined

By combining the books in this way it gives the enchanters something to do other than pump out more and more books. And when the player comes along to look for books they can find very useful combinations they'd want to use fairly easily (generally look for the ones with more than 1 enchant). Although there are still some that would be considered "trash" for example no-one needs a dozen Lure-3/LotS-3 books, it does reduce the number of trash looking unbreaking-1 and other lower-level books as they end up as part of the path to something more useful, in most cases you'd only have one or two of each of these low-level stepping stones in the chests at a time not shulkers full of them that the player has to sort from the useful ones or throw away over time.

Please do something to make the enchanted books usable/combinable, salable, or at least stop putting enchantments that don't apply to the items in use by villagers (e.g., fishing rods, undersea). I have thrown away 50 enchanted books the merchant won't buy and the teacher can't use and that are not any value even to me as the player. I've turned off that AI option for both my enchanters but hated having to do it.
