Thanks for your interest! I would like to add some language support, but it's not super high priority. And it needs to be done more properly than Gloomhaven Helper did it, with language files separated from the general scenario data. I believe you can edit the json files on the windows version at least if you feel like you need it soon.
The only problem I see with this is that you seem not sure how will you implement this. And that's a bit risky because I might be forced to redo all translation again or move translated phrases across different file formats/structures, which can be even worse. Is that risk real, or am I daydreaming ? :)

And what about android version? I don't really have any device with windows, only linuxes and androids. :) Worse case scenario I can use VM with windows, but... I also notice some files related to linux in your repo. Can your app be compiled for Linux by any chance ?
It's a very real risk. Almost guaranteed. So better to wait for real language changing support. Any particular language you are interested in? Languages that require different fonts ( i.e chinese, japanese, korean, greek, russian etc) will be more difficult to add.

Well, Polish would be priority 4 me and then maybe German that I'm learning.
As for the font, I think it's not too difficult to find one that support many languages national chars. Not that I checked that thoroughly, but I have seen other languages national letters a dozen upon a dozen times when I was messing around with fonts... :)
About the fonts: the main issue is , the app uses pirata or germania one for titles and markazi/majalla for card texts, to emulate how the cards actually look in real life. I've had to fine tune font heights and baselines to get alignments correct. It's an absolute pain, so the less fonts the better.

If there's extra language support, I'll definitely be interested in making some contribute to Chinese. Though, the font problem is also there as Chinese doesn't even use the latin alphabet, so it definitely looks very different.

Oh, Pinyin is not a font. It's more like a way to input Chinese. Pinyin uses the pronunciation of the character to write them, or there are some other methods that you can use the structure of the character to write them. The font difference between Chinese and normal alphabetic language is way too much, so you can't really compare. Honestly the font is never the major problem before the translation is completed, heh.

Another thing, and pardon my ignorance: would a chineee boardgame use the arabic numberals (i.e 1-9) or chinese signs like 一 , 二 ... 九 ? and if so, would they be included in the fonts?

Oh, there's some history behind the Chinese version of Gloomhaven and it's a weird thing to talk about. Gloomhaven is localized by a company called "MyBG", and I happened to have a friend to live with one of their staff, and I went there for board game sessions semi often, so I heard quite a bit of stuff from them. MyBG is a very infamous company for Chinese localization because their localization is... really bad. They have lots of translation error and they don't even correct them in later prints etc. Therefore, I would rather not deal with that, and it seems it's rather mysterious that almost no Chinese version Gloomhaven images, so I have no idea how they would translate the monsters. However, the classes are really bad at least IMO. Also, I think the font they're using is probably not free to use... and I saw one or two images of those, and I'd say probably some default Chinese fonts are better because it's easier to read even the default fonts are boring...
Now, to make it even worse, JotL is localized by a Taiwanese company, which uses Traditional Chinese and it seems they are translated very differently... and the same case, I can't find any image about that, so I have no idea how they translate the monsters etc.
Then the second question, mostly when it means a number, it's rarely written in Chinese characters because it's very hard to read. For example, the game term of "draw 2 cards" is usually translated into "摸2张牌" instead of “摸两张牌". Hopefully this solves your question.
I personally would say, if the language support is a "maybe" feature, then I would say I personally would focus on the UI first. The monster names etc. are a hard part. I like to do translations, but it's very difficult to make it consistent :^) Though, on the other hand, it's unlikely that Frosthaven would be translated any time soon.

I do plan to do language support, however it's not super high priority, and I wouldn't expect it to be in a state ready for translation for another couple of months or so.
Having the numerals always be arabic (1-9) might simplify some layout so that's good.
While the biggest work load would be to actually do the translations, there might be some consideration needed for the exact fonts: what font to use and what size and how to modify base lines.
It wasn't such a big deal for gloomhaven style but in frosthaven there is various sizes of fonts in a row and center aligned, which with custom fonts and ( needed to fit ) custom font height,is not well supported by the framework so I have had to hack together a solution where I put extra space on top for some text sizes ( there are 3 sizes of text possible on the cards ) So I would need to tweak those separately for every font added.

Well, it is official and they have the license for doing so, but the quality is... just meh, and almost all hardcore Chinese board gamers know that MyBG sucks...
I think the font issue should be easily solved whenever you decide to do the feature. I don't play in Chinese anyway, but I just like the app, so I want to contribute something :P I personally don't mind doing some translations about the monsters etc. because somehow I like doing those.

Hi I was wondering if it's possible to provide you with the translated json files, so you could build other language(s) version (or made option to choose language in the app)?
Or maybe there is a way to use such asset to replace some files locally on the device and change a language that way ?
