Message on /downloads page needs to be updated. #2874

The message on the side of this page should be changed, now that people can download bilingual pairs.. https://tatoeba.org/en/downloads

The following message is not true anymore.

Note The data you will find here will NOT be useful unless you are coding a language tool or processing data.

If you simply want sentences that you can use to learn a language, check out the sentence lists. You can build your own, or view the ones that others have created. The lists can be downloaded and printed.

I disagree.

When I implemented the bilingual pairs download feature, I purposely left that message because I assume ordinary users wouldn’t really know what to do with the generated CSV file. My opinion is that some may be able to open it with Excel and resize the columns as a way to inspect the contents, but that’s about it. The contents are often way too huge to be worth printing out.

I was thinking that these might be able to be imported into Anki easily like the files I have at http://www.manythings.org/anki .

The differences are (1) that these would be raw files without any attempt at filtering out a number of sentences with errors (outright errors or just less than natural), and (2) the order of the fields might need to be changed to easily import into Anki.

The message should definitely remain, though, above the "weekly exports."

I would support a wording change from "will NOT be" to something weaker, like "may not". I don't really understand the purpose of the "scary uppercase". For what it's worth, these downloads can be useful for people who simply want to search for certain patterns in a text editor. They don't need programming skills to do that.
