I'll look into this. Thanks for the report.
Thanks for looking into this. I have many custom sprites that i want to use in a campaign.
I tried reproducing the issue, but was unsuccessful so far. Could you maybe send me the patchwad and the source PNGs. Maybe that will give me a clue as to what went wrong here.
Actually, the issue i was talking about wasn't present the last time i tried to do this, which was after reading your post. However, i tried adding more sprites to an already existing patchwad and then some of the older ones became black squares. You can try doing that and if it doesn't work, i guess the issue was on my end. Also, i'm very busy at the moment so i can't test it out myself. If i find the time and it comes to this, i can send you a patchwad with the bug present, if i'm able to reproduce it.
Let me start off with the fact that i have no knowledge on the functionalities behind the Explorer, but I've been using it to replace sprites since it came out. So i will try to explain this issue in the best way i can. Also, this is on version 9.
When replacing sprites for Hotline Miami 2, after a certain limit is reached (by my estimate about six or seven) the sprites that were first replaced show up ingame as black squares. That only happens if i exceed this limit of six or seven. Before, i used to get an error while replacing the sixth/seventh sprite which said something along the lines of "Image must be 0x0" or "Image is 0x0". Nowadays i don't even get that error message.
Note that i am trying to put these multiple sprite replacements in a single patchwad. If there is an actual way to bypass this that you know of, i'd be very grateful to get a response from anyone who can fix this. You can contact me through reddit, my username is Nekrocop.
