Is this project still active at all. I loved Kolourpaint, but I hated 
installing half of KDE with it. This was something I was really looking forward 
to, and I really want some updates.

 The project is still very much active. We've moved over to https://launchpad.net/gnome-paint (to try it out). We're still keeping this site though. Hopefully, we'll get another version out pretty soon. In the meantime, you can get the source at https://code.launchpad.net/gnome-paint.
- Added eraser with 4 sizes  (with undo/redo).
- Added undo/redo to flood-fill and airbrush.
- Added support for different types/sizes of brushes.
- 1st version of rectangular selection.
