For the first one, the typesetting is done by Sage so it's difficult to control. So I'd suggest for this one we tweak the book to use both (and given the ubiquity of these expressions outside of this context and the lack of consistent notation, being comfrotable using both is probably better for students in the long term).
See #413 that takes care of the second.

Task 2 update: In the text we use the parentheses notation for exponentials, like $f(x)=-2(3)^x$, but in the question it's using a dot for the multiplication, like $f(x)=-2\cdot 3^x$. Not a huge deal, but consistency would be nice. Or purposely using both notations in both places.
Task 3 update: The question asks for an equation, but the answer is an expression.
