Coen identified that the CO core mass can drop during stellar type transition (see plot above, for a sample system identified by Coen with the following parameters:

Mass_1, Metallicity_1, Mass_2, Metallicity_2, Eccentricity, Separation 8.290966, 0.0142, 7.335256, 0.0142, 0., 5.176831

The CO core mass should not drop during this or other stellar type changes except in a supernova.
